September 6-10 was the appointed date of the evaluation of all mission-affiliated elementary schools in Northeastern Mindanao Mission. It is designed by the Education Department to see its strength and check its weaknesses to recommend for improvement.<\/p>\n
Dr. Yolando A. Queruela together with his wife Elizabeth arrived early on September 6, 2010 at Butuan City Mission Academy (BCMA) as the first school to be evaluated. BCMA is soon to have its (AAA) Adventist Accrediting Association evaluation this coming November, so the school was given only health and dental services\u00a0 offered by the Health Team.<\/p>\n
The evaluating team was headed by Dr. Yolando A. Queruela, SPUC Associate Education Director, Nilda E. Caberte, NeMM Education Superintendent , and Pastor Nimrod V. Saramosing. NeMM Health Director, Dr. Desiree D. Dumanon, a Dentist, 3 Registered Nurses, Mae Love V. Galinato, Jezer C. Caballero, and Serven C. Caballero, and our Mission Auditor, Zephaniah Loropan<\/p>\n
The team proceeded to Northeastern Mindanao SDA Elementary School (NEM) in the afternoon. The next three days 3 schools were evaluated. They were Surigao City Adventist Learning Center (SCALC) , San Francisco SDA Elementary Schools, and New Mt. Olive SDA Elementary School.<\/p>\n
Dr. Y. A. Queruela was very much impressed with what most of the teacher\u2019s were doing with their classrooms. They had\u00a0 attractive decorations, which are very appealing to the eyes of young children. Bulletin board displays were well- prepared by . Their own hands , not ready-made charts from book stores. \u201c The teachers are artistic.\u201d, he said. Most of their displays were relevant to their lessons.<\/p>\n
Besides the room structuring, teachers were rated in other aspects on how they present their lesson , the different techniques and strategies they used to let the children learned and have a lively class interaction,\u00a0 Good communication skills, Neat and updated school records. The school treasurer was also evaluated by the mission auditor to see its effectiveness to support the operation of the school.<\/p>\n
