Pr. Anecito Pableo, Jr – NEMM Youth Director giving instructions during the Training of Friendship Camp Directors.

A training for Friendship Camp directors, deputies, and scribes took place at the Northeastern Mindanao Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church last April 12 to 14, 2024, in preparation for the approaching mission-wide friendship camping. This training is for the young leaders to stressed the value of spiritual development and mental health in addition to giving youth useful skills during the camping.

Guest speakers from diverse professions shared their experience, expertise, wisdom and practical application of challenges that may arise during the camping and how to handle it. An open discussion that allows the young leaders to participate and ask questions to the speakers were one of the highlights of the program; as the speakers gave insights on event planning, leadership, facilitating, budgeting, spiritual relationships, and community engagement, all of which that will contribute to the success of the camping.

During Divine Service, Pastor James Lloyd Lim presented an inspiring message focused on 1 Timothy 4:12, encouraging young leaders to be outstanding in speech, conduct, and love. Pastor Lim urge the youth to commit their lives in serving God and the people around them, emphasizing their responsibility as coworkers in spreading the gospel to all nations.

On April 14th, the Adventist Mental Health Association-NeMM (AMH-NeMM) Chapter lead by Miss Junnilyn Michelle Nonan, held a special session on young leaders’ mental health, recognizing its importance, participants received skills and resources to help themselves and their fellow youth, and establish a culture of mental wellness awareness throughout the Seventh-day Adventist community.

As the training concluded, the young leaders left equipped with the knowledge, skills, and spiritual fortitude to make a meaningful impact through the mission-wide upcoming friendship camping. With a renewed sense of purpose and commitment, these leaders are poised to spread love, compassion, and the message of hope to all generation. (By: Geraldine Ba-al, Communication Dept.)
