Fire hits Surigao City particularly in Naeva Ext & P. Reyes Sts. last August 21, 2010. Fire Victims were distressed because of the lost belongings and houses. More than 223 families lost their homes, but in spite of the tragedy blessings came to their rescue. A total of 223 house owners and 115 renters were reported.
The first 100 families received donation through Northeastern Mindanao Mission from a family living in Dubai who have the kind heart in helping fire victims. This financer and a philanthropist is an employer of a Filipina overseas worker who took interest in helping her employee’s countrymen thru this big amount he shared to each family of fire victims. Each family received $1,000.00 or P43,500, Philippine money. This is the first time throughout the history in Caraga region that the fire victims received such huge amount from the donor for house construction materials. The people did not expect that out of the tragedy they can still have a new house.
“Another donation is coming for the remaining families who have not received their shares yet,” as told by the contact person in Dubai to Pastor Postrero, the district Pastor of Surigao City, who facilitated this assistance together with the NeMM administrators.
Thanks be to God for the kind heart who shared their blessings to fire victims. The people were really grateful and happy to the donor’s kind gifts to them.
